Four Season Outdoor Recreation
in the East Grand Lake Area of Eastern Maine
Hosts: Judy & Elbridge Cleaves, Patti & Carl Davis

First Settler's Lodge First Settler's Lodge, named in honor of our relatives and the early founders of Weston, is located in the rural East Grand Lake area of Eastern Maine. The Lodge sits atop Gilpatrick Hill Farm overlooking Mt. Katahdin and East Grand Lake. Guests may choose lodging accommodations from spacious individual rooms, to an efficiency suite, or ski-lodge type bunk room. The Lodge is very tastefully furnished to accommodate individuals, families, or groups. Amenities include complementary use of indoor and outdoor exercise and recreational equipment, a large "common" room with cathedral ceiling and fireplace, a fully equipped conference room, a guest dining area overlooking East Grand Lake, and use of Lodge grounds and trails.  A full range of outdoor outfitting and guide services are available on-site to complement and enjoy the area’s rich natural resources. Spectacular scenery surrounds the Lodge with unobstructed views of the fields and forests of Weston, East Grand Lake, Canada, Mt. Katahdin, and the Appalachian Range. Visitors can even enjoy our view of the night sky from the front or back  decks. First Settler's Lodge is non-smoking, handicap accessible, and promotes the quietness and uniqueness of an area that truly is the "way life should be."

"Nearly one hundred and fifty years ago, first settler Sam Cleaves, after paddling up the Baskahegan, chose to raise his family near the Indian Cary Trail which passed in the valley below the Lodge. And first settler Thomas Gilpatrick, after building a log cabin, cleared forests and carved out the fields where the manor now sites." - Local Historian Town of Weston

Hosts Judy and Elbridge Cleaves and Carl and Patti Davis are proud to share their heritage and the beauty of Weston in a quiet and relaxing country lodge. Guests have the benefit of the many years of professional and outdoor skills developed in the fields of education, forestry, and Master Maine Guide.

NOTICE OF SALE
Our thoughts run to those remaining years of a life-long friendship in the company of a favorite fly rod, a special shotgun, or watching nature from the stern of a well-kept canoe. So many "customers" have become old friends-- conversations around the dining table, an open fire, or at the end of a cherished experience gleaned from Maine's woods or waters--all special memories that will not soon fade.

It is with mixed feelings that we seek the sale of the Lodge and business we have so fondly helped to build.
