I stayed at First Settlers this past weekend and found the accommodations first rate. We also enjoyed snowmobiling and ice fishing. The lodge is well situated for easy access to trails and local lakes. Steve and Susan were great hosts, and provided information about trail and ice conditions prior to our arrival. With great views, rooms, and food , I would recommend a stay to anyone. Looking forward to going back.    A. P. 1/19/11

My father, grandfather, and I stayed at First Settler's Lodge on Memorial Day weekend. It was fabulous. The rooms were clean and nicely put together, and the food was great too.  If you have been here before the new owners were friendly and their friendliness and well being may rival with the previous owner.  We all had a wonderful time and if you're thinking of coming up here, I would do it in a heartbeat.  My husband and I stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights in this beautiful resort. The views of Mt. Katahdin and East Grand Lake were fabulous. But the best part of our stay were the accommodations. The resort was very warm and inviting and the owners, Stephen and Susan, were very welcoming. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very, very clean. The breakfasts and dinners (all home cooked) that we had were to die for and may I add very reasonably priced for what you got (more than I could ever eat but thank goodness for my husband). Susan is a tremendous "Cook" and Stephen helps, of course; they are a team. I would "highly" recommend this place (and I will) to anyone and we both can't wait to go back this summer.
